Bruce McLean, ‘Two carefully peeled potatoes in porcelain’, 2020

Conceptual artist Bruce McLean has long explored the sculptural potential of food, and eating and drinking as performance. He has incorporated the humble potato into his paintings and sculptures since an early age, along with scones, fruit cake, ice cream, and other kinds of food. His work seeks to challenge the concept of ‘sculpture' by creating work that questions establishment thinking and materials. McLean peeled two potatoes and cast them in fine bone china for this limited edition.
